Obituary for
Sophia Kosach
With the same grace she lived her life, Sophie Kosach exited her life. Born on January 23, 1923 in Aromas California to Nikola and Elena Ratkovich she was raised in Santa Clara where she graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1941. After high school she attended beauty school in Oakland and it was there she met her soul mate and the love of her life Spiro (Steve) Kosach. WWII began and Steve was sent to the South Pacific for two years. Upon his return they were married and began a life that would include the birth of their two sons, Steve and Tom; building a home in Lafayette; and hosting family holiday and Sunday meals. Although Sophie was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, she became the light in the lives of her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She made her home in Lafayette a gathering place for them, and they cherished time with her. She instilled Serbian culture and traditions in all of them, and took immense pride when they spoke simple Serbian language to her.
Sophie was predeceased by her parents, husband Steve and son Tom. She is survived by her son Steve Kosach and his wife Gail. She is also survived by her grand children Kimberly Kosach, Becky Kosach, Steven Kosach (Susie), Keri Kosach (Sam), and Nikolas Kosach (Erin). Also surviving her are her five great grand-children Connor, Kieran, Ian, McKinley, and Olympia.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 1700 School Street, Moraga CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Church or your favorite charity.
